About
The BERC Group is an independent evaluation, research, and consulting firm focused on putting research into practice. Evaluation gathers and analyzes data. Research helps organizations understand the data in the context of effective practices. And Consulting provides guidance on how to use the data to promote and support improvement efforts.
History
Our work over the last decade has provided a unique experience around improving schools and understanding student outcomes at both the macro and micro levels. Since 2000, we have conducted formative and summative program-level evaluations for the Gates foundation, Kauffman Foundation, Broad Foundation, United States Department of Education, Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, Hawaii Department of Education, Microsoft, and many other agencies.
The BERC Group has extensive experience in working with complex organizations and systems, facilitating evaluations and program monitoring, as well as data collection, management, analysis, and reporting. Much of our work has focused on college readiness, and our evaluation projects have included universities, schools and school systems, and grant projects focused on preparing students for college. In the last three years, we have analyzed over 100,000 Washington State high school graduate transcripts to assess college eligibility, school rigor, and program impact at the school and system levels. Philosophy
The BERC Group provides an experienced third-party perspective to the school improvement process. Instead of stumbling blindly through educational change, they inform educators with formative and summative, in-depth data collection. Instead of submitting sterile, disengaging reports, they inspire people with engaging personal presentations and multimedia report packages. Rather than being a detached external evaluation firm, The BERC Group invests in its clients and walks beside them.
